The Sun Also Rises

July 17, 2022 Preacher: Caleb Bunch Series: Isaiah

Topic: Jesus, the Light of Life Scripture: Isaiah 60

The sun also Rises. Jesus the Light of Life.

Isaiah 60: 1-22 it written in several styles which must be understood to understand what is being said.

1) It uses Obvious symbolism in Figurative ways, such as vs 16, where men will Nurse at the breast of Kings,  which means future kings will care for you.

2) Prophetic Perfect Tense.  Stating completed actions of a Future event - Verse 1 - Arise and shine because your light has Come.  Stating that Jesus will come in the future and be your light.

3) Timing - Prophesies are stated after one another, but the events are not going to happen at the same time.  They may be spread out over centuries.

Isaiah 60 shows the promises of the Light (Jesus Christ) who will come to us to provide us with the light.  In him is light and the light shines in the darkness and the darkness found in us, if we believe in Jesus, will be taken away from us and we will have eternal life.  Only through the grace of God can we be saved. Once we see the Light, the light of Jesus will reflect through us and spread to others.
